Timber roof structure under construction

Roofing

Pitched & hand-cut roofs

Traditional hand-cut carpentry and engineered trussed roofs — accurate, strong and ready for the finish you choose.

Pitched roofs are the backbone of most domestic work we do. Whether the design calls for traditional cut roofs on site or prefabricated trusses, we set out carefully, brace correctly, and detail junctions so the structure stays stiff and weathertight once covered.

Finished coverings and supporting work — how the roof looks once the carpentry is done.

Hand-cut vs trussed — the right approach

Hand-cut roofs shine where rooms need odd angles, vaults or matching existing rafters. Trussed roofs can be faster and very cost-effective for straightforward spans. We recommend what fits the architecture and the budget, without cutting corners on structural integrity.

Quality you can't see — until you need it

Birdsmouths, hangers, binders and bracing are not glamorous, but they are what keep a roof stable in a storm. We work to approved details and common sense: correct bearing, strapping where it matters, and a clean deck for slates or tiles.

  • New builds, extensions and re-roofs with structural replacement
  • Hip, gable and more complex roof forms
  • Coordination with steel and openings for stairs or dormers
  • Clear handover ready for roofers and follow-on trades

Working alongside your project

We are used to fitting into wider builds — builders, architects and homeowners all need clarity. We programme realistically, communicate when something affects the structure, and leave drawings and site notes that make the next stage smoother.
